BRINGING HOME BLUMARINE

Fans of the Italian label Blumarine will be thrilled to know the feminine, vibrant ready-to-wear aesthetic of Anna Molinari, the label’s designer, has been perfectly translated into a luxury home collection. The home range, which includes furniture, home textiles, and tablewear, is an exciting addition to the ever-expanding fashion house. Sofas, chairs, and beds have been upholstered in luxury fabrics such as velvet and silk. Key colors are bright shades of pink, fuchsia, lavender, and cream. Sheets are made to resemble dresses using embroidered tulle, macramé, and Swarovski crystals, signature Blumarine frills. Tablewear is made in unique materials, such as fine bone china, crystal, and porcelain. The plates are finished in bright animal prints, kitschy underwater images, and twisting floral blooms. One theme of the collection is the seashell — the name of the label was conceived by Molinari and her late husband, Gianpaolo Tarabini, over a shared passion for the sea — and the hand-carved detail embellishes tables and chairs. However, the most ubiquitous feature is the rose, which adorns everything from the embroidered tulle sheets to the porcelain tableware. Molinari, who uses tattoos to represent important moments in her life, is, herself, flecked with small roses. The collection is sure to give the Blumarine woman a chance to give her home the same feminine, energetic attitude that she gives her wardrobe. The first collection was presented on April 15, 2010, at the Blufin showroom at via Manzoni 38 in Milan.
